#WednesdayWord

At Rock City, Pastor Annie preached about John 14:1--"Do not let your hearts be troubled."

And, I don't know about others, but I know it brought some soothing to my troubled heart. Not because of the command alone, not even because of my faith in a just and loving God, but because of the context of reality that Pastor Annie placed it in.

She preached a sermon that honored the words of Rev. Osagyefo Sekou, author, organizer, musician, and theologian:

"We can tell the truth about the darkness, but not let it have the last word."

Pastor Annie's sermon was a call to keep the argument going. Don't let evil have the last word. Keep going in love and light.

Challenging to do at times? Absolutely. That's why we need community. So some can rest while others hold the light for them.

But "do not let your heart be troubled...you know the way to the place where I am going." A place of justice, where there is shalom and flourishing for everyone.

Let us keep going...together. #BetheLight #LeadWithLove

For a longer convo...enjoy this video of Lisa Sharon Harper. It was recorded January 1st, yet retains its relevance. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CJhinJXhRu-/?hl=en
